This course combines the study of the principles and methods of cryptology - the creation and analysis of codes and ciphers - with the history of cryptology and its importance in world affairs. We will finish with a review of modern coding techniques and their importance to many aspects of modern life.

A syllabus of readings and assignments will be developed as the course proceeds. Students should regularly check the syllabus web page for reading assignments and quizzes.

There will be a series of online quizzes on the readings. These quizzes are open book, but must be completed on time. Class attendance is an important part of the course.
