College Pages
These pages have been set up at colleges or universities
by faculty interested specifically in the APCS program or
more generally in introductory computer science. If you
would like a link to a particular page added to this list,
please e-mail chris@cs.colgate.edu
Mark
Stehlik's APCS page
A page with solutions to past AP exam free response questions
and links to other AP sites. Mark, Dean of Undergraduate
Studies in the School of Computer Cience at Carnegie-Mellon
University, is the current Chief Reader for the APCS exam.
Owen
Astrachan's AP Computer Science page
Astrachan has several pages linked from his main page that
have material useful to AP CS teachers. These include materials
on C++ and Java. He has done translation of some old C++
free response exam questions into Java.
Chris
Nevison's Home Page
See his links for his introductory courses (COSC 101, 102)
and other links on Java
Alyce
Brady's APCS Page
These are materials organized for APCS by Alyce. They include
a link to her own APCS workshop page, links to her introductory
course pages, and several other links to useful APCS materials.
Alyce, in the Computer Science Department at Kalamazoo College,
is a former member of the APCS Development committee and
is the author of the Marine Biology Simulation (the first
AP CS Java case study).
Joe
Bergin's Web Page
Joe has a host of materials relating to computer science
at the introductory level. These include materials from
his introductory courses. This is the source for Karel++.
He also has some good materials about Java as a language
for those who want to get more information.
How
to Design Programs, Developed at Rice University
This page offers information on an alternative approach
to teaching introductory programming and computer science.
Materials (all free) include a textbook, a programming environment
(compatible with Windows, Mac, and Unix), an extensive set
of exercises and solution sets (for teachers only at this
point), and information about a summer institute (with fellowship
support for attendees). The curriculum uses the language
Scheme for teaching the principles of program design. It
is aimed at the pre-AP student. While the curriculum was
originally developed at Rice, the outreach project includes
teams at Adelphi University, Brown University, Northeastern
University, the University of Utah, and Worcester Polytechnique
Institute (WPI).
